Bay City teacher faces charge of improper relationship with student

   A 44-year-old BCISD teacher was arrested for an improper relationship with a 13-year-old student, the Bay City Police Department reported Tuesday, Dec. 26.
   After police officers served warrants on Rachel Gonzales, 44, of Bay City, at about 4:40 p.m. Friday, Dec. 22, she was booked at Matagorda County Jail on charges of online solicitation of a minor and improper relationship between educator and student, police reports show.
   Bay City police said an investigation began when Bay City ISD police received information alleging that a teacher had been caught in the back seat of a vehicle with a 13-year-old victim by the child’s father.  
   The vehicle had been parked in a parking lot located in the 5200 block of Oak Manor Blvd., police reports show.  
   BCPD Detectives Bay City ISD Police Friday afternoon, Dec. 15, at Bay City High School, where BCISD police told BCPD detectives about the case that was reported to have occurred Dec. 14, police said.
   District Attorney Steven Reis requested ISD police to turn the case over to Bay City PD detectives for investigation, police said in the Dec. 26 press release.  
   During the investigation, detectives got a search warrant to seize and access the phone belonging to the victim.  
   At that time, they were able to locate evidence indicating there was an improper relationship and detectives requested warrants for the suspect’s arrest, police said.
