“MCEDC discusses China trip, county’s housing possibilities” by: Mike Reddell

A recent trip to China by Matagorda and Wharton county officials to explore relationships on several levels with the Chinese was covered at the Matagorda County Economic Development Corporation board’s regular meeting Friday, Jan. 26.
   The board also discussed Matagorda County housing development and the need to be competitive with area cities for that housing.
   MCEDC Executive Director Mike Ferdinand said the trip to China was aimed at exploring a relationship with Chiping County in China and to further economic development, education, cultural relationships.
   In addition to Ferdinand, the Matagorda County delegation to China included Bay City Community Development Corporation Executive Director D.C. Dunham, Tidehaven Superintendent Dr. Andrew Seigrist and Main Street Co-director Pattie Odom.
